Seaber Patrol - Naval Group

1st place at Naval Group's Front-End Pioneer's Challenge 2023: a web-based Combat Management System simulating a warship's tactical situation display. Prize: €3,000 and a tour of a nuclear attack submarine.

The competition: 10 weeks, 6 teams from French engineering schools. I took part in team Seaber Patrol, representing UTC (Université de Technologie de Compiègne). Format: weekly checkpoints, a technical report and a final pitch to a panel of expert judges. The technical challenge Displaying a live tactical situation (moving tracks, video feeds, dashboards) under strict performance constraints. It's a rendering problem before it's an interface problem. The rendering pipeline • WebGL for track rendering • Web Workers and OffscreenCanvas to move computation off the main thread • React and Angular (RxJS) for the interface and data flows The result 1st place. €3,000 and a tour of a nuclear attack submarine.
